Times in Brasília time, based on the server clock. Sessions are market conventions: the Sydney session can start a little before the conventional weekly open (Sunday 5 p.m. New York time), because the time zones change on different dates. Holidays are not considered.

How the forex market works
Unlike a stock exchange, the currency market has no central floor and no official hours. Banks, brokers and funds trade around the clock, and the trading day follows the sun from Sydney to Tokyo, London and New York. The session windows on this page are the common convention (about nine hours each, on each centre's local clock: Sydney 7:00–16:00, Tokyo 9:00–18:00, London and New York 8:00–17:00) and brokers may use slightly different ones.
Liquidity tends to be highest when two sessions overlap, above all when London and New York are both open, and the opening of each session brings more volatility. For Brazilians, the Tokyo and Sydney sessions fall in the evening and overnight, while London opens in the early morning and New York overlaps with the B3 session.
The market opens on Sunday afternoon in New York and closes on Friday afternoon (the most common convention, 5:00 p.m. New York time); in Brasília time that moves by one hour when the US changes its clocks.
Hours source and holidays
Forex sessions are market conventions, not official hours; confirm trading and maintenance hours with your broker. Holidays and thin-liquidity days are not considered on this page.
