Bulgaria is 6 hours ahead of Brasília right now. When it is 12:00 in Brasília, it is 18:00 in Bulgaria. This gap is not fixed: it moves with daylight saving time.
How many hours apart today
To find the time in Bulgaria, add 6 hours to the time in Brasília. Bulgaria follows Europe/Sofia (UTC+3), while Brasília is on UTC-3, so people there are already living further into the day: when it is 12:00 in Brasília, it is 18:00 in Bulgaria.
From 18:00 in Brasília it is already the next calendar day in Bulgaria.
Daylight saving time: does the gap change?
Yes. Bulgaria changes its clocks, so the difference has two values: +5 hours on standard time and +6 hours on daylight saving time (+ means ahead of Brasília, - behind). Daylight saving time starts in March and ends in October. Today the gap is 6 hours. The next change is on Sunday, October 25, 2026 at 04:00 (clocks go back 1 hour), and from that day the difference with Brasília moves by one hour.
Brazil, for its part, has had no daylight saving time since 2019 and stays on UTC-3 all year, so every change comes from the Bulgaria side. See the daylight saving time guide for dates by country.

Best times to call or hold a meeting
Assuming 9:00-18:00 office hours on both sides, the shared window runs from 09:00 to 12:00 Brasília time (15:00 to 18:00 in Bulgaria), about 3 hours of overlap. That is a short window, so book it early and keep meetings tight.
From Brazil, when it is 09:00 in Brasília, it is 15:00 in Bulgaria (within office hours); at 12:00 it is 18:00 (within office hours); and at 18:00 it is 00:00 (next day) (night or very early, best avoided).
In the other direction, a call made in Bulgaria at 9:00 reaches Brasília at 03:00 (night or very early, best avoided); at 12:00 it is 06:00 there (night or very early, best avoided); and at 18:00, 12:00 (within office hours).
The same arithmetic helps with flights, whose departure and arrival times on tickets are always in the local time of each airport, and with live broadcasts announced in another time zone. Always convert the announced time before you plan. The meeting planner compares both clocks hour by hour.
